John Cognetti, Scranton Realtor

John Cognetti licensed in Pennsylvania as a real estate salesman in 1977, became a broker in 1980.

In 1985, Mr. Cognetti purchased the assets of the Hinerfeld Realty Company and became its President and Broker of Record.

He is a member of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR) and has earned the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation from the Commercial Investment Real Estate Institute.

Mr. Cognetti has kept current with the regional economic climate, as well as with prospective commercial and industrial real estate properties, through his current and past involvement in the economic development organizations through the Scranton, Wilkes-Barre,  Pocono Mountains, CANDO Hazleton, and Pittston Chambers of Commerce. As president of the Hinerfeld Realty Company, he became a founding member of Penn’s Northeast, the regional marketing entity for economic development in Northeastern Pennsylvania.  His community involvement includes past leadership roles with the Lackawanna Historical Society, co-founder of the Architectural Heritage Association of Northeastern Pennsylvania, former member of the Board of Meals on Wheels.  

Currently, he serves as a director of Fidelity Deposit & Discount Bank where he is secretary of the board, and is a member of the board of St. Francis Kitchen. He also serves on the board of SIDCO (Scranton Industrial Development Corporation) and Penn’s Northeast.  He is current Chairman of the Board of Business Services for Realtors (BSRE), the profit division of the Pennsylvania Association or Realtors (PAR).
